review || THE WEDDING PACT { early review tour } by Katee Robert

NOTE: I am super sorry, but I've been out of town this week for relocating purposes. I have this post all pretty and set up but --

NO REVIEW.

Oy vey...

I'll try to get the review up on my next layover! Again, I'm sorry!

Totally thought I did this on my 2.5 hour layover... Realized when I was up up up in the sky that I didn't...

Carrigan O'Malley has fallen in love with family enemy #1, James Halloran and he has absolutely no intention of letting her get away.  THE WEDDING PACT is the second book in a smoking-hot series about the O'Malleys—wealthy, powerful, and full of scandalous family secrets from New York Times Bestseller Katee Robert and Forever Romance.

Carrigan O'Malley has always known her arranged marriage would be more about power and prestige than passion. But after one taste of the hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced James Halloran, she's ruined for anyone else. Too bad James and his family are enemy number 1.

Hallorans vs. O'Malleys—that's how it's always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family's empire instead of how silky Carrigan's skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. But not nearly as dangerous as he'll be if he can't get what he wants: Carrigan by his side for the rest of their lives.

If you haven't read the previous book, no worries, you're almost ok. For the most part, really. But there were some losses in the previous book that hit our characters hard in this book, and you might want to get to know them... just so your heart can break right alongside them.

In the previous book, we had the eldest O'Malley and his arranged marriage to Callie. They had some moments, but there's is certainly a successful arranged marriage in the political world of mafia ties. This time around, though, it's Ms. Carrigan's turn, and she would rather run away than do as her father asks. Her prospects aren't anything to write home about.

Carrigan and James, our lead male and a son from another family, had some scuffles (to say the least) in the previous book. They have history. And they are more or less enemies. They had one blissful encounter, up until Carrigan told him her name, and from then, they've been butting heads -- whenever Carrigan manages to get caught.

In what starts as a cat-and-mouse chase, James fights for Carrigan's attention -- initially because she has something of his, or so he says. Really, though, he's afraid that the marriage Carrigan ends up in (because it won't be to him -- her father detests the Hallorans) will completely douse her fire. She's spunky, fierce, independent, has goals... all things that will be put out when she's put in a marriage for political purposes only.

These two were so fun to watch. I loved the push-pull, the chase, and the eventual fear of what would happen if they were found out. As hard as these two fought one another, they were more than perfect for one another. Definitely a fun read.
