Bennett Morse devotes his time to chasing two things: an NHL career and women. He’s the easygoing member of his three-man line on the Fenway Flyers, content to play the game he loves and soak up the female attention it brings – as long as it’s from a different woman each time. He learned the hard way that choosing only one leads to heartache.

Newly single attorney Charlotte Holloway finds just what she needs in Bennett – a sweet, sexy man to ease the burn of her recent breakup. One night is all she wants from the left winger who seems to have all the right moves. Soon circumstance draws her back to Bennett, and the sparks between them become a fiery blaze. But with the stakes high, will they risk it all and put their hearts on the line?

{ review } .

I wasn't the biggest fan of Killian, but the hockey/sport romance reader/writer in me refused to let this series go without a second chance. And thank goodness for that, because I wouldn't have seen the, ooh... year long journey Bennett and Charlotte.

And what a journey it is.

When we open, we get a partial sense of who Charlotte is. She's an advocate for children, has a boss who knows her well and knows she wants this newest opening position, and a loving boyfriend who sits with her for hours, eating M&Ms.

And then that all goes to hell in a handbasket.

One night with sexy hockey player should cure that all, right?

While not completely "I fell in love with my best friend's sister", this one still falls there. Bennett's teammate, and closest friend, is Liam. When Bennett sleeps with Charlotte, he has no clue who she is.

But when she comes to him a few months later, he finds out quickly enough.

I really loved these two. I loved how Bennett, while an athlete through and through, was levelheaded and knew what had to be done financially so his life could be what he wanted it to be. I loved watching Charlotte grow through the story, as well, and found her to be the perfect match for Bennett. They were playful and fun, but had their serious moments too. But they were more playful and fun ;)

"Challenging, huh? Is that what we're calling it now?"

I met his warm brown eyes. "Only if we want to get laid regularly."

He nodded and kissed my brow. "Challenging it is."

Mostly, though, I loved the emotion Bennett brought forth in the story, time and time again. This one is definitely going in the re-read pile!
