Erin Robinson is having an epically bad year. Her blossoming career on Broadway tanked, forcing her to crawl back to home to Wellington. The icing on her failure cake? Her former on-again, off-again fling is in town, and the sexy Marine is taking up way too much space.

Warren Davis always knew Erin was special, which is exactly why he can’t have her. A girl like her deserves something permanent—something neither of them wants. But now that they’re both back in town and she’s right there in front of him, a challenge in her eyes he’s never been able to resist, he’s questioning everything.

That challenge quickly escalates into an epic game of Truth or Dare. Erin’s sure she’s got him on lock, but as the night progresses, Warren’s dares intensify, drowning her in lust. But with the past still breathing down their necks, there’s no way either of them can win...

{ day in the life : a typical kr writing day } .

I’ve written posts in the past about what my typical writing day looks like. Suffice to say I’m somewhat a creature of habit. I liked my warm beverages and my early morning writing sprints and all was good in the world.
And then I had the Tiny Dictator.

Yeah, a schedule is a pretty thought with an infant, but it just flat out doesn’t work. I was blessed with a good sleeper for the most part, but even then you’re looking at an hour snatched here and there, as opposed to the nice clear days I had with my older children in school.

I’ve learned to write at the drop of a hat. I’ll bounce Tiny Dictator to sleep and the second his baby eyes close, it’s on like Donkey Kong. I’ve gotten very, very good at short sprints to chip away at my overall daily word count. I’ve also been known, in desperation, to wrap him up in a baby wrap and write while standing. These days I’m all about being adaptable.

Before, I had a hell of a time writing in the afternoon. Now? HA! There’s no such thing as the afternoon slump when you’re sleep deprived and all jacked up on coffee.

That is the one thing that has stayed consistent, though. I like my coffee or tea while I’m getting my words in. It just puts me in the right mindspace to create, and I don’t know that that will ever change.

Things have been pretty hectic with the new addition to the family, but ultimately it’s forced me to get over some of my writing crutches that I hadn’t even realized existed. There isn’t time to be a delicate snowflake because deadlines wait for no woman--or baby. And I’m much more efficient as an author as a result!
Which is all to say, I don’t have much in the way of a typical writing day. There are days when Tiny Dictator takes wonderfully long naps and I get all my work done in one big marathon. And there are days (like today!) where I’m snatching five and ten minute writing sprints and eyeing the clock and wondering if it’s too early to pour myself a glass of wine. It all evens out, though! :)

{ excerpt } .

He shot her a look that stole her breath, his dark eyes so heated it was a wonder she didn’t melt into a puddle at his feet. “That wasn’t a kiss.”

“I was there. Pretty sure it was a kiss.”

He pulled off one of her boots and then the other, and she was so shocked that she let him. Warren ran his hands up her legs, making her wish she’d worn something flimsier than her favorite pair of jeans. “I don’t know who you’ve been kissing over the last year, but they obviously haven’t been doing it properly.”

She bit her lip when his chilled fingers brushed the top of her jeans, slipping beneath her shirt to stroke along her skin. Why was she trying to argue her way out of this…whatever it was? “I’ve been kissed plenty fine in the last year.”

“No, you haven’t.” He abruptly tightened his grip and jerked her to the very edge of the bench.

Her breath stalled out, and she could only watch as he unbuttoned her jeans and worked them down her legs, never taking his gaze from her face. Erin licked her lips. “How would you know?”

“Because, Freckles, you haven’t been kissed by me.”

This series keeps getting better and better to me. I loved the Yeungs, and at this point, I definitely need to go back and read books 1 and 1.5 -- the first novella belonging to the male Aaron Robinson.

If you don't believe that parents do cruel things to their children, such as give them the same name, trust me -- I work with kids, and I've met many families where children have the same name, just off-put by one letter, or boys named Micheal and Mikal, or Anthony and Antonio. It happens.

And it happens in this town of Wellington, where the Robinson's named their first born, Aaron, and their second? Well, she's Erin, and she'd been dubbed Mini Me over the years, much to her disdain.

Dreaming of acting, she left her small town life behind, but standing up for her young co-star has her back in town -- and looking in the eyes of the one man who has the ability to tear her down.

One summer, Warren and Erin had a secret relationship, but since then, they just warm one another's sheets every now and again. Well, Erin's had enough. But Warren's had an accident that made him think twice about life.

This is a quick novella, yes, but with their history, their bantering and bickering, their go-to game of Truth or Dare... these two were easy to fall in love with. I loved Erin and Warren (even if his name kills me). Their story is fast paced, but felt so incredible real. Both of these two have deeply rooted emotions and guilts that have lead them on the paths they're on, and watching this little journey was enjoyable. My only disappointment was that this one was so short! I would have loved to see a little more of them.
