Delaney, a professional bodyguard, has spent years trying to prove herself in a male dominated industry. Now she's facing her greatest challenge yet.
Bad boy billionaire Jax Shields has made plenty of enemies on his climb to the top, but being in the wrong place at the wrong time has put his life at risk. Now he's putting his life in the hands of Delaney and her team. He demands the best in everything, and he doesn't think she has what it takes to protect him. He's also made it clear he'd rather have her on her back then covering his. Will Delaney be able to prove herself to the most arrogant—and devastatingly handsome—man she's ever met?

I was pretty pumped for this book at the end of BREAK in October. Delaney just simply impressed me -- the thought of her anyway. We open this book with her running with her partner, and all seems well until she ends up in the building with her group -- at which point, we learn just how low on the totem pole she is, and just how hard she has fought for her spot in this group of men's men.

I loved the sassy, spunky, fiery Delaney, aka Laney. Pairing her with rich boy Jaxon was quite fun, too. I loved his reactions to her, and absolutely adored watching him fall for the spitfire who was put on his bodyguard detail.

I will say that of the Bella Jewel books I've read, I did feel that this one read the easiest -- as in reading level. The words, being in Laney's point of view as the book is, almost came across as a late-teen, early early twenty-something and as such, I don't know that I fully believed she would have the capabilities to do the job. However, the actions and sequences the story went through certainly proved her worth. I would have liked to see the writing match up more to her character.
